Dr. Edward Custer Jr., 57, of Cancer in Marietta, GA, December 20, 2000, native of Hollywood and Downers Grove, IL, son of Mr Edward and Vera Custer, both deceased; loving husband of Valentina, nee Petrova; devoted brother of Cheryl Wicklund; loving uncle of Alex and Lena; adored nephew of uncles Dr. Charles (Christine) Knop, and Frank (JoAnne) Knop Jr.; and cousins, Stephen (Linda), Matthew (Sarah), and LeAnne Knop; loving second cousin of Westin, Jennifer and Jamison Knop. Cremated remains will rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park, IL. Services and bereavement dinner are planned to be held in the Chicago vicinity this coming summer. Edward graduated from Riverside Brookfield High in 1961, received his BA in Physics (scholarship) at University of Chicago, 1965; his Ph.D in Chemistry at Oregon State University, in 1972, and his Ph.D in Clinical Chemistry at Howard University in 1980. He conducted valuable research in the clinical chemistry field through out his career at various west and east coast pharmaceutical companies. In addition he was an Instructor in graduate courses in this field at various Universities. Edward met his lovely wife Valentina, who is an Architect, while vacationing in Moscow during the summer of 1989 and they married shortly afterwards. Edward was a gracious gentle person and was excessively kind to all. We shall miss his intellectual curiosity, combined with his serenity.
