Mildred “Milly” Friedman, nee Schechtman, age 77, died February 3, 2001. She was a longtime Braeside resident in Highland Park, and most recently lived in Lincolnshire. She was born in Chicago in 1924, attended Marshall High School, and was active in community and volunteer work all the days of her life. She was the center of her vast group of loving family and friends, a vibrant and devoted wife of Leonard (d. 1995) and the wonderful mother of Sandra Friedman Tepper, Dayle Friedman, and Howard Mevis. She was the much-adored Mimi to her grandchildren Alex Tepper, Matt Tepper, Katie Mevis, and Ali Mevis. She was the beloved sister of Len Schechtman and her other sisters and brothers, Helen Schechtman, Edward Friedman, Joan Friedman, and the late Selma and Harvey Badesch. She is also survived by her aunt, Janet Hauser and her friend Eli Putterman. She leaves a legacy of kindness, vivacity, and beauty that will be remembered by all who knew her. Funeral services Monday, 1 p.m. at The Weinstein Family Services Wilmette Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette (1 block north of Old Orchard). Interment Shalom Memorial Park, Arlington Heights.
