“Hispanic teen births up, defying U.S. trend” (Page 1, Jan. 29) by Sue Ellen Christian and Teresa Puente makes little reference to Hispanic males, who are part of the equation here. If they have not started to do so already, both parents of young Hispanics approaching manhood need to point out being macho does not necessarily involve a roll in the hay.

Birth-control measures are a “guy thing” as well. Making males feel responsible for the consequences of unprotected sex is the only way to cut down on unplanned parenthood.
