Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Got rock ‘n’ roll fantasies? You can play them out at DayJams, a weeklong day camp for aspiring rockers and DJs ages 9-15. Campers choose from one of seven musical areas: guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, hand percussion, voice and disc-jockey music. Then they’re grouped into bands based on age and skill level. Each band will write an original song, cut a demo CD and perform on stage at a concert for family and friends! Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a definite diva, the camp will find a spot for you. DayJams will be held at Our Lady of Destiny in Des Plaines for two one-week sessions (we plan to show up at one!): June 11-15 and June 18-22. Cost is $390 for a one-week session, so start begging or saving now! For more info, call the National Music Workshop, the music school that puts on DayJams, at 1-800-295-5956. Also, check out the camp’s Web site at www.dayjams.com.
