Louise Anne Augusta Schmitt, nee Tilly, 83, a lifelong resident of Elmhurst, died after a short illness Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Born on May 5, 1917 in Oak Park, IL to Emil and Elizabeth Tilly, nee Hapke. The talented pianist married Albert Leo Schmitt on Nov. 7, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1993. Loving mother of four daughters, Miriam (Keith) Strong of Woodstock, Julia Healy of Staten Island, NY, Carol (Shawn) Stever of Peoria and Barbara (Fred) Hoyne of Elmhurst; dear grandmother of Patrick Healy, Katherine Healy, Michele (Lance Lelm, fiance) MeyerStever, Carrie Meyer-Stever (Sean) Martinie, Jonathan Meyer-Stever, Michael Hoyne and Alexander Hoyne; preceded in death by her brothers, O. Charles and Herbert Tilly. Louise was a secretary at Lincoln School in Elmhurst, Scripture Press in Wheaton, Kitchen Arts Foods in Elmhurst and retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. in 1982. She played the piano at Grace Bible Church in Elmhurst (1942-1966), Medinah Baptist Church Berean Sunday School Class (1970-2000), Keenagers at Grace Bible Church (1982-2000) and at Gitche Gumee Bible Camp, Eagle River, Michigan (1960-1999). She was a guest artist at three salons in New York in 2000. She also served as an election judge from 1982-2000. Visitation at The Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. In state at Medinah Baptist Church, 900 E. Foster, Roselle, IL from 10 a.m. until time of Service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001.
