Caroline Ball, 100, of Prospect Heights, retired in the 1970s after more than 40 years as a seamstress, most recently for many years with Leo’s Dancewear Inc., Chicago. Mrs. Ball died Saturday, Feb. 3, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. “She came to America when she was 21,” said her granddaughter Linda Pacyk.. “During the Depression my grandmother raised my mother [the late Violet Wagner] by herself. … We just celebrated her 100th birthday. We thought she’d live to 105.” Other survivors include a sister, Gisella Neubauer; and two great-granddaughters. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect. A service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
