Daniel B. Doherty, 49, of Twin Lakes, Wis., . co-founded in 1978 Ewing Doherty Mechanical of Bensenville, plumbing contractors he also co-owned with his brother Patrick. Mr. Doherty, a former resident of Mt. Prospect and Des Plaines, was also co-owner since 1984 of Doherty Giannini Reitz Construction Co., Bensenville, a construction site utility contracting firm; and co-owner since 1988 of the Oak Club of Genoa, a golf course in Genoa. Mr. Doherty, a Chicago native, died of complications from a brain aneurysm Sunday, Feb. 4, in Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago. Mr. Doherty served with the Marines in the late 1960s. “I can’t even tell you how many people he helped,” said his brother Thomas Doherty. “He had more friends than anyone I ever knew.” Other survivors include his wife, Renee; a son, Brion; three daughters, Julie, Connie and Jillian; his mother, Connie M.; five sisters, Kathy Leary, Susan Bettis, Diane Frisk, Maryann Benvenuti and Connie Piehowski; and four more brothers, Patrick, Michael, John and Joseph. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of a memorial service at 1 p.m., and after the service to 3 p.m. in the Oak Club of Genoa, 11770 Elwood Greens Rd., Genoa.
