Elzie Higginbottom Sr., age 85, passed away Feb. 5, 2001. He was the beloved and devoted husband to Katherine; loving father to Elzie L. Jr. (Deborah) and Eric; dear grandfather to William and Carter; and fond brother to Ada Battle. Elzie Sr. was a self-employed entrepreneur, and servant of the community. Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home, Ltd., 6453 South Ashland Avenue. Funeral Services also Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 – Wake 7 p.m., Funeral 8 p.m. at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1259 W. 111th Street. Interment Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Cemetery, Momence, IL.
