Sylvia Laurin, 88, longtime resident of Skokie, passed away at home on February 4. Married to her beloved Fred for 70 years. She raised her family in Austin area of Chicago. Sylvia was a fundraiser for cancer research, and an avid Mah Jongg player. She enjoyed driving cross-crountry with Fred to visit friends and family. An adoring Jewish grandmother, she always delighted her family with her marvelous cooking. In excellent health, until recently, she enjoyed almost every moment of her life. Preceded in death by her sister/best friend Sydelle Abramson; loving children are Merrill (Barbara) Laurin, of Buffalo Grove and Linda Laurin-Gramling (Jim) of Atlanta, GA; proud grandmother of Victoria Linne of Washington, D.C., Michael Laurin of Tucson, AZ, Gregg Laurin of Phoenix, AZ and Marla Laurin of Palatine; loved her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Dylan. Sylvia will be deeply missed by all. Services Friday, 2 p.m. at Oakridge Cemetery Chapel, Roosevelt Rd., Hilside. Visitation Friday night, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 9020 Crawford Ave., Skokie.
