Another workplace shooting by a heavily armed wacko will no doubt lead to more calls for “effective gun control.”
What about a call for law-abiding citizens to be allowed to defend themselves? What if the disgruntled shooter knew that his intended victims might be carrying their own firearms?
The 2nd Amendment guarantees our right to self-defense, but state laws do not permit us to carry the only weapon that could be of any use against a murderer. Police cannot possibly protect individuals from random acts of violence such as the shooting that occurred Monday. As individuals, we should insist on the right to protect ourselves and should demand right-to-carry laws in Illinois.
