Walter Henry Kleinofen, passed away Feb. 6, 2001, in Libertyville, three days after his 91st birthday, husband of the late Aneta, nee Schreiber; father of Joanne (Donald) Murray and Lois (the late Richard) Mengarelli; grandfather of Jeanie, Craig (Jane) and Andy (Janet) Murray, Laura (Michael) Golden, Michael (Sherri) Burklin and Christopher (Liz) DeJonge; great-grandfather of nine. He was born, raised and lived in Evanston for most of his life. He began his 48 year banking career in 1926 as a messenger boy at Evanston State Bank & Trust Co. (currently Bank One). Former President of the Optimists Club in both Evanston and New Port Richey, FL. As a young man, he sang in the choir and along with two of his four brothers, played basketball for St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Evanston. Memorial Service 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 10th at Winchester House, 1125 N. Milwaukee, Libertyville, IL 60048. Interment private.
