Lydia E. Becker, 98, of Arlington Heights, a homemaker, had formerly lived for 55 years in Chicago. Mrs. Becker, a Chicago native, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, in ManorCare Health Services, Arlington Heights. “She was the sweetest lady you’d ever want to know,” said her daughter-in-law Marilyn. When her husband, Carl H. Becker, died 45 years ago, Mrs. Becker took a job with a Chicago company that printed calendars and worked there for 10 years. “She loved working there,” her daughter-in-law said. “She enjoyed being with people.” Other survivors include a son, Carl G.; a daughter, Lorraine Thompson; four granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect.
