Scott Turow’s commentary hit the nail on the head. I, like Turow, am a Democrat, but I have great admiration for the way Gov. George Ryan has governed Illinois for the past two years. His performance as secretary of state should not be ignored, but neither should the courageous positions he has taken as governor.
Too many politicians put political considerations ahead of good government. Illinois is fortunate that Ryan is not one of them.
