Why should any person in the U.S., with the exception of active-duty military personnel, be allowed to purchase or own an assault rifle or automatic weapon? Isn’t the purpose of these weapons to be able to wound or kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time? Under what circumstances other than war would someone need to do that? Perhaps the Navistar shooter wouldn’t have been able to hurt as many people as he did so quickly if he hadn’t had that particular weapon.
