Gov. Scott McCallum said Monday that he asked President Bush to designate five more counties as eligible for federal assistance because of December snowstorms.
The counties are: Columbia, Dodge, Jefferson, Ozaukee and Waukesha.
In January, Bush declared 11 Wisconsin counties eligible for federal disaster funds following record snowfalls Dec. 11-31.
Under the emergency declaration, the federal government will reimburse local governments for 75 percent of eligible costs, such as equipment, contracts and overtime, related to dealing with snow for a 48-hour period. The counties already qualified for aid are Dane, Door, Green, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Racine, Rock, Sheboygan and Walworth.
