Richard J. Riley, 59, of Barrington, the owner of R.J. Riley Inc., a Barrington packaging company, died of congestive heart failure Friday, Feb. 9, in his home. Mr. Riley graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka. Within a few years he began working at Riley and Geehr Inc., a family industrial packaging company in Chicago. Mr. Riley served as vice president of sales and marketing until 1989, when he decided to open his own packaging company. He opened R.J. Riley Inc. in Barrington and served as owner and president. In addition, his company also provided desktop publishing services. A fan of the Barrington Youth Soccer Program, Mr. Riley would produce posters and brochures for the teams. “He had a deep love for kids,” recalled his daughter Lisa. Other survivors include another daughter, Laurie Riley Welch; his mother, Virginia; a brother, Thomas; a sister, Nancy Malicki; and two grandchildren. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington.
