Ruth Waddell Tarbox, 89, of Evanston, formerly of Chicago, died February 9, 2001, she had been the director of School and Library Services of Field Enterprises Educational Corp., from 1946 to 1965 and then served as Executive Secretary of the American Library Association from 1966 to 1973. She was born in Mellen, Wisconsin and graduated from Northland College and the University of Minnesota. She served on the board of the Chicago UNICEF and was a member of 4th Presbyterian Church in Chicago. She is survived by a brother, John Marston Tarbox; sister, Jane Strandberg; nephews, John David and Richard Paul Tarbox. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 1571 Maple Ave., Evanston. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to 4th Presbyterian Church, 126 E.
