Dr. Wallace A. Bacon, 87, of Des Montes passed away February 10, 2001. He received his AB and Litt.D from Albion College, MA and Ph.D from the University of Michigan and LL.D from Emerson College. He taught at numerous universities and was a visiting professor at numerous universities including the Philippines and Japan. His teaching profession centered at Northwestern University. He had many honors and grants which included the Legion of Merit for service in military intelligence, Alfred Lloyd Postdoctoral Fellow, Ford Foundation Fellow, New York State Speech Association, Speech Communication Association Golden Anniversary Prize and Distinguished Alumnus Award. He was listed in Who’s Who in America, director of British and American Writers. He published several books, over 40 articles and numerous short pieces on literature and Shakespeare. He was a guest critic, lecturer and reader at many colleges. He is survived by niece, Patricia A. (Henry) Ziegele; brother, Robert Bacon of Michigan; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives; very good friend Richard Padilla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wallace A.
