As a longtime reader, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight some recent exhilarating articles:

– Your coverage of the brave demise of Al McGuire was outstanding. He was truly a man in sports to be admired, a rarity in today’s egocentric environment. A superstar of a human being.

– Your article on famous and successful African-Americans was very thorough and timely.

– Your coverage of the president’s transition has been more balanced and positive than the media’s past coverage and should provide a rationale for bipartisan support and less hysteria.

– The article on the diminished use of sports figures to promote products was very timely. Some of the spokespeople do more damage than good to a product’s appeal. The best salesman of all time was Arthur Godfrey in the early days of TV. He would research every product he was asked to promote and would not introduce it until he was satisfied that it was every bit as good as the manufacturer implied. The audience trusted him to the extent that when he sponsored a product, it was not unusual for the product to be sold out in the stores on the following day.

Keep up the good work.
