Clarence M. Petersen, 70, of Arlington Heights, a retired truck driver for the Coca-Cola Co. in Chicago, died Saturday, Feb. 10, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Mr. Petersen graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park. He served from 1949 to 1953 in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a sergeant who worked in the motor pool. After his military service, Mr. Petersen returned to Chicago. In 1955, he began working as a truck driver and delivered syrup around the U.S. for Coca-Cola. He retired in 1993. Mr. Petersen was active in the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 2048 in Arlington Heights, where he had served as club manager in the 1990s. “He was a very generous man,” said his son, Grant. Other survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Miley; and three grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights.
