Ben Hoffing, 90, died February 13. Former Sargeant Chicago Police Department. First Officer Friendly. Beloved husband of Marion, nee Carlson; dear father of Marlene Sesterhenn and the late Charles Z. Hoffing and adopted father of Joan Rollen Cooper; treasured grandfather of Lisa (Charles) Kodie, Stephen B. (Annette) Hoffing, Deborah (Michael) Reher, and Rebecca Hoffing; fond uncle to Richard T. Carlson, Cheryl (Mark) Chiapetto, Rollen Michael Cooper, Ilene (William) Minter, Andy (Mary) Norman, Patricia (Gary) Handy, Cheryl (Bert) Schimmel, Leon (Mary) Hoffing; and good friend, brother-in-law Theodore C. Carlson; popular great-grandfather to 10 greatgrandchildren; and many great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in late March, 2001.
