A St. Charles junior high school student escaped serious injury Thursday afternoon when a school bus struck him in a school parking lot.
Several buses were lined up after school to pick up students from Thompson School and Haines Middle School when a bus, apparently shifting gear into the neutral position, slightly moved and struck a student walking between two buses.
The student walked away from the accident but was taken to a local hospital for observation. He was being treated and was expected to be released, police said.
