Sean Brady, 80, of Aurora and formerly of Glen Ellyn, the former co-owner of Brady-Wyte Furniture Co. in Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton. “He was born in Ireland, and when he came to America he worked for our relatives, the Plunketts, who were also in the furniture business,” said his daughter Maureen Brennan. Mr. Brady struck out on his own in 1964 and opened the Roosevelt Road store with another interior designer, Sondra Wytow. Mr. Brady co-owned the business until the mid-1980s, when he sold his share to Wytow. “He remained active as an interior designer and worked out of his home until a year ago, when illness forced him to stop,” his daughter said. Known for his wit and eagerness to share a hug, Mr. Brady remained the classic Irishman, his daughter said. “People loved to be around him, to enjoy his laughter and Irish brogue,” she said. Mr. Brady was a devout Catholic and a supporter of Columban fathers. He also was a member of Serra Club, Rotary International and Lombard Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Brady also is survived by two other daughters, Pat Young and Eileen Suva; three sisters, Betty Brady, Helen McCabe and Marie Smith; a brother, Cathal Brady; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday in Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a mass to be said at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 0S233 Church St., Winfield.
