William J. Lavin, 66, of Boca Raton, Fla., and formerly of Wheaton, died in a Boca Raton hospice Wednesday, Feb. 14. Born in Chicago, Mr. Lavin was a retired vice president for an automotive parts manufacturer. He retired in the early 1990s and moved to Florida, said his daughter, Colleen Holtorf. “He loved to fish and spent a lot of time on the piers in Florida,” she said. “He and my mother also loved to travel.” Mr. Lavin served in the Army from 1954 to 1956 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. John the Evangelist Church in Boca Raton. Other survivors include his wife, Rita; a son, William; four sisters, Marion Wottrich, Kathleen McGowan, Florence Briney and Shirley Angone; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a mass to be said at 11 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church, 315 W. Illinois St., Wheaton.
