Mary Franzen, age 78, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 at the Eagle River Memorial Hospital in Eagle River, WI. She was born on Oct. 20, 1922 in Chicago. Formerly of Des Plaines, IL, she had made Phelps, WI her home for 16 years. Mary was a high school secretary in Park Ridge, IL for many years. She was a member of Phelps Hospital Auxiliary Board. She sang in the choir in a Congregational Church in Des Plaines, IL. She was preceded in death by her sister, Suzanne, in 1990. She is survived by her husband, Walter of Phelps, WI; daughters, Katherine (David) Nickel of Mount Prospect, IL and Mary (Robert) Del Vecchio of Elgin, IL; son, David (June) Franzen of Phelps; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
