In “Too many guns” (Voice of the people, Feb. 12), Kirsten Curley of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence states: “The desperation of [William] Baker was not going to be stopped by an armed guard.”

Right she is.

An armed guard would have done nothing for Mr. Baker’s desperation in the Navistar shooting.

But unless he/she was an awfully poor shot, an armed guard could indeed have prevented Mr. Baker from killing others.
