Retired Brigadier Gen. William A. Kurtis, 86, of Independence, KS, died there on Wednesday, Feb. 14, after a long illness. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 17 in Independence, KS, and interment followed with full Military Honors. In addition to his wife, Wilma, to whom he had been married since 1938, survivors include his son, Bill Kurtis of Chicago; a daughter, Jean Schodorf of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren; and two sisters.
