As an American Jewish critic of Israel, I thank you for your honest and courageous condemnation of Jewish settlements in the occupied territories (“The bankruptcy of occupation,” Editorial, Feb. 14). The settlements are at the root of the problem. Palestinians cannot take the Israelis’ desire for peace seriously until they are removed.
