Stanley Gordon Hazel, age 88, of Dolton, passed away Feb. 14, Army veteran, 82nd Airborne, WW II, beloved husband of Marcia and the late Irene Bernice, nee Norkus; loving father of Judy (Harry) Blaundin and Debbie (Tom) Ketcham; stepfather of Dave (Chris) Berman; grandfather of Harry and Caroline Blaundin, Angel and Julia Ketcham, Britnee, Lauren and Kailey Berman; son of the late Susan “Susie” Elizabeth Mackey and the late Harvey Edgar Hazel; brother of the late Everrett Showers Hazel, Wallace (the late Florence) Hazel and Vera May (the late Norman) Young; uncle of Gary and Larry. Born of humble beginnings, proud graduate of the college of hard knocks. He was an adventure seeker, traveler (boxcar), bootlegger (former), lumber yard worker, car salesman, salmon boat fisherman, farmhand, painter, business broker, fight instructor, war crime investigator, chief of security at Sherwin-Williams-Chicago. Excellent golfer (avid anyway), friend, companion, loving husband and father. We celebrate his life. He will be missed. Services were private.
