Matthew Hinerfeld’s Feb. 14 letter, “Meter information,” says columnist John Kass “went too far in explaining step-by-step how [parking meters] can be reset to zero time remaining with a television remote control.”
He also said, “It is enough that the press publicizes the fact that it can be done, but explaining exactly how to make a bomb merely guarantees that more bombs will be made.”
By such logic, sex education (or sex in the media) that “explains how to” enjoy safe promiscuity guarantees that more will occur among the irresponsible. Is there any proof of this correlation between ideas and actions?
