I am amazed that the Tribune continues to publish so-called “Jewish” reader comments, such as those of David Green and Steven Feuerstein, both of whom strongly support the Tribune’s condemnation of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories (Voice of the people, Feb. 18).

Israel has already turned over more than 40 percent of the West Bank and most of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak offered to turn over 95 percent of the West Bank, virtually 100 percent of Gaza, even the Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem, so great was Israel’s willingness to compromise for peace. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat didn’t even present a counter-offer. Instead he resorted to violence, apparently refusing to take anything short of maximal Palestinian demands.

I am certain the Tribune can find scores of letters from Jewish people who have the guts to support the beleaguered nation of their co-religionists. Why do you continue to publish the very few who turn their backs on them?
