Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle’s (D-S.D.) childish display of a Lexus and a muffler to argue against President Bush’s tax cut was offensive and showed a lack of class that seems to be characteristic of Democrats (Page 1, Feb 9).

To begin with, every man, woman and child would owe approximately $6,000 to pay the national debt this year. If a person makes $1 million and pays about $380,000 per year on taxes, he or she is paying more than his or her fair share.

Those who get the “goose egg” from the tax package are those who get earned-income credit or are on welfare.

Eliminating the unfair marriage penalty tax and the estate tax (on which income tax has already been paid by the deceased) is the right thing to do. Without wealth to create jobs, do research and encourage investment, there would be no jobs. Our capitalistic system has proven to be the strongest in the world. The left and the socialists will do everything in their power to bring it down. Thinking Americans cannot allow that to happen.

As for me, Mr. Daschle, I will take the muffler, gladly.
