Walter Ladley, 75, of Naperville, a former member of Naperville’s Planning Commission, died Thursday, Feb. 8, in his Lakeland, Fla., home. Born in Howell, Mich., Mr. Ladley was a vice president in the municipal bonds division at Northern Trust Bank in Chicago from 1961 to 1991. An ordained minister with the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Michigan Conference, he earlier had served with several churches in Ohio and Michigan. Mr. Ladley attended North Central College and received degrees from Upper Iowa University, Evangelical Theological Seminary in Naperville and the University of Michigan. He served with the Navy during World War II, assigned to the Pacific Theater, where he was a sonarman. A past president of the board of Edward Hospital, Mr. Ladley also served on the board of Summer Place Theater. Among his interests were computer games, reading and golf; he shot a hole in one in 1998, family members said. Survivors include a son, Walter; a daughter, Diane; a half sister, Alice Gathman; and a granddaughter. A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday in Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Rd., Naperville.
