Your newspaper has the right to endorse whoever you feel would best fill the position of 37th Ward alderman. But to endorse the current alderman, Emma Mitts, and then offer the commentary, “What Mitts may lack in charisma . . .” is an insult to both Ald. Mitts and the 37th Ward (Editorial, Feb. 20).

What does charisma have to do with being an effective alderman?

The election of an alderman is based on who will best represent the needs of the residents.

The election is not a popularity contest.

And if Cedric Giles refuses to publicly castigate his father, that is his business.

Otherwise I expect your paper to start holding all current elected officials responsible for their father’s sins.
