Under dark North Carolina skies, a chill rain greeted mourners Thursday as the NASCAR community paid its final respects to Dale Earnhardt at a memorial service at Calvary Church.
Most of the NASCAR drivers were on hand, including Michael Waltrip, Sterling Marlin, Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Terry and Bobby Labonte, Rusty Wallace, Jeff and Ward Burton, Steve Park, Jerry Nadeau and Mike Skinner.
Among the old-timers attending were Richard Petty, Ned Jarrett, Junior Johnson and Darrell Waltrip.
