Daniel Kowalski, 74, of Hanover Park retired in 1992 after a career as a computer programmer. He spent the last six years of his career with Weber-Stephen Products Co., Palatine, manufacturer of outdoor cooking grills, and was previously with Ekco Products Inc., Wheeling, makers of home cookware. Mr. Kowalski, a Chicago native, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, in his home. He served with the Army Air Forces as an airplane mechanic during World War II. “Dan was one of the most well-liked people in the data processing department and in the entire office,” said Bill Krieger, vice president of management information services for Weber-Steven. “He was one guy you could always depend on.” Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; three sons, Peter, Joseph and Raymond; five daughters, Barbara Morrison, Joan Todde, Geri Parker, Diane West and Linda; two sisters, Virginia Margelewski and Dorothy Savage; and 15 grandchildren. Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Friday in Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood. A mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Marcelline Catholic Church, 820 S. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg.
