Alvin W. Long, age 77, former President, Chairman and C.E.O. of Chicago Title and Trust Co., passed away Feb. 20, 2001 in Boynton Beach, FL after a lengthy illness. He served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps as a navigator in World War II and was a prisoner of war for a year in Germany. Prior to moving to Florida permanently, he was a director of Bradner Central Co., Chicago. He was President of American Land Title Association ’70-’71, Children Home and Aid Society of Illinois, and Trustee of the John Marshall Law School, Chicago. For many years he was an active member of Flossmoor Country Club in Flossmoor, IL. He is a member of the Commercial Club, Chicago, the Chicago Club, Quail Ridge Country Club, Boynton Beach, FL and Beta Sigma Phi Law Fraternity. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ethelle “Kit”; a son, Roger H. Long of Anthem, AZ; and a daughter, Sherry Long McBain of Boynton Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Kelly, Brooke and Ashley McBain, Brian Long and Stacey Endres; and a great-grandson, Austin Endres. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at the Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL.
