John P. Stacy, 80, of Prospect Heights, a former longtime resident of Oak Park, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Alden Health Care Center in Des Plaines. Mr. Stacy grew up in Oak Park and graduated from Oak Park High School. He served 4 years as a mechanic in the Army Air Forces during World War II. For the next two decades, Mr. Stacy worked in office equipment sales for several Chicago companies. In the early 1970s he began working for the Chicago Rivet & Machine Co. in Bellwood. Before he retired in the early 1990s, Mr. Stacy worked in quality control at the company’s Naperville facility. In 1994, he moved to Prospect Heights. “He had a quiet way about him,” said his wife of 53 years, Mae. “He was kind and patient and never demanding.” Other survivors include a sister, Coronet McDowell. Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. A mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd., Prospect Heights.
