I don’t see how so many in our Congress or our state legislatures can’t see something that is so obvious.
When we had regulation of the airlines, the public was better served. The airlines ran on time, and they were more accountable to the public in every way.
Communications were better run and the public’s needs were better met. We now hear of constant problems with Ameritech. Who suffers? The consumer, of course.
We hear constantly that companies (now that they are unregulated) are merging with other companies to become bigger to get more of the lion’s share of the business, but they are still not being held accountable for their performance to the public.
It seems to me that our Congress, president and state legislators should stop and assess this situation and think less of playing to big business and start serving the public that elects them. Pass legislation that will regulate these industries.
They should look back and let history dictate their actions rather than the big pockets of big business.
