Vytautas “Vyto” Joseph Baltrunas, passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2001 in Auburn, CA after a short illness. He was born in Chicago, IL on Dec. 10, 1917 to Lithuanian immigrants. After receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree at Roosevelt University, he served his country as an officer in the Army Chemical Corps during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was later employed by the Fifth Army as a civilian chemist and was retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. After his wife Sylvia’s death in 1978, he moved to California to be a gentleman farmer and was active in St. Joseph’s Parish. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Cecilia and Mark Fuchs of Auburn, Elizabeth and John Daniels of Grass Valley, and Stephanie and Daniel Gibson of Springfield, IL; and grandchildren David, Megan, William, Mark Jr., and Heather Fuchs of Auburn and Lauren Gibson of Springfield, IL; he was predeceased by his only son, Michael Joseph in 1983. Visitation Monday, 8 a.m. until time of funeral, 9:15 a.m. at Kenny Brothers, 3600 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park, IL to St. Cajetan Church. Mass 10 a.m. Interment St. Casimir.
