This is in response to “Condoning Clinton” (Voice of the people, Feb. 16) from Susan J. Venecek.
In it she says she is “suspect” of Clinton’s defenders, and that “they condone this type of behavior in their own personal lives and, therefore, don’t know any better.”
What she doesn’t understand is that I don’t condone Clinton’s behavior. Instead, I oppose her behavior, and that of her fellow Clinton haters. Their obsession with Bill Clinton distracts our government from doing the people’s business. Their obsession with Bill Clinton has negatively affected the tone of public discourse. And their obsession with Bill Clinton is entirely hypocritical, given their lack of outrage in the face of Iran-Contra, the sexual shenanigans of Henry Hyde, Newt Gingrich, etc. , and other Republican misdeeds too numerous to mention here.
I, too, am suspect. I am suspect of people like Ms. Venecek who stand in judgment of others. I am suspect of people like her who have appointed themselves the moral guardians of our nation. And I am suspect of people like her who believe they have discovered the one true path to salvation.
