The Blackhawks and Maple Leafs combined for nine third period goals in a 6-4 Hawks win Sunday at the United Center. The Blackhawks franchise record for most goals by both teams in one period is 12 established during the second period Dec. 11 1985 when the Oilers and Hawks scored six goals apiece in a 12-9 Edmonton win at Chicago Stadium. This effort equaled the NHL record set in a March 19, 1981 second period when Buffalo scored nine goals to Toronto’s three in a 14-4 Sabres romp in Buffalo.
