The ultimate space saga for PlayStation 2 has arrived to our galaxy, and it’s Star Wars Starfighter ($50). The game features the exploits of three new fighter pilots who battle the evil Trade Federation.
There are 14 mission-based levels, which are either in deep space or on a planet surface. Gamers can choose between three levels of difficulty. With each mission, a set of objectives must be completed to advance to the next level. To unlock bonus levels, gamers also must complete bonus goals.
The game play is diverse and challenging. Missions range from attacking enemies to defending a location or ship. The controls are fairly simple to learn and responsive enough to make the game fun. The graphics look great too — especially the space missions, which have the most variety of objects and textures.
Star Wars Starfighter is an excellent arcade-style fighting game with an interesting story line and challenging game play. It’s a must-buy for “Star Wars” fans. It also makes a good rental because it’s easy enough to learn.
