If the costs of running our country from income taxes were evenly divided by our population, 95 percent of our people would pay double what they currently do. Now that we have been overcharged for what it costs to run our government, we are due a return lest the government find new ways to spend it.

Because the top 5 percent of wage earners paid more than 50 percent of this overcharge, it is unreasonable to essentially raise these people’s taxes relative to the population by reducing their percentage of the refund. We redistribute wealth through a tax system that penalizes hard work. Using a refund to increase this redistribution exaggerates this inequity.
