It was with great distress and shock that Muslims around the world heard about Taliban’s decision to destroy the Buddha statues in Bamiyan (“Taliban official boasts of destruction of giant ancient Buddha statues,” News, March 4).
This action is not only uncivil but also totally un-Islamic.
Islam teaches that there can be no compulsion in religion.
It is also explicitly mentioned in the Holy Koran to not abuse the gods of other religions.
