In the March 14 Metro section, Jeff Zeleny writes that Gov. George Ryan “finds nothing wrong or offensive with a student dressing as a fictitious American Indian named Chief Illiniwek who dances at halftime at ballgames.”

I agree with Mr. Ryan 100 percent. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it except that some people do feel offended.

If someone says something I feel offended by, they may say, “Hey, can’t you take a joke?” Yes, I can, most of the time, but in rare cases, no, I can’t! That should put the speaker on notice and he/she may not repeat their “joke.”
