Bernice “Bea” Coonen, born in Chicago, IL of Walter E. and Olive Schneider, nee Helwig on October 26, 1923; widow of the late Norbert H. Coonen, married in St. Louis, MO on February 21, 1944; survived by her eight children, Barbara (Dale) Soltwisch, Ann (Lyle) Gast, Thomas Coonen, Jerome (Susan) Coonen, Ned (Marcia) Coonen, Martin (Mary Jo) Coonen, Carol (Thomas) Drungil, and Daniel (Karen) Coonen; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchilren; and Kelly; Bea attended Mundelein College and St. Louis University; she was a Radio Mechanics Instructor for the U.S. Army during World War II; She was a homemaker, volunteer, and avid reader; She served 45 years with the Girl Scouts of America, and volunteered with the American Red Cross, various animal welfare organizations, and the Woodstock Food Pantry. Services will be private.
