I think the Tribune’s redesign affected some editor’s news judgment. Relegating John Phillips’ death to the obituary page was a big mistake. As founder and leader of the Mamas and the Papas, Phillips helped create some great music during the 1960s. Phillips’ death deserved much better placement in the Tribune.
