Thanks to Melissa Isaacson’s witty commentary of March 25, suddenly famous professor Wally Schaller will be teaching a new course at Texas Tech next term. For faculty only, the self-improvement seminar’s title is “Theory and Practice of Toadying to Peabrained Media Spitemeisters.”
Apparently there will be no student-faculty forum on “Ethical Issues in Selective Moral Outrage.” Isaacson’s essay described Tech students as uneducated lunatics, vile, obscene, cold-hearted cheaters. So much for the Bob Knight hiring as a learning situation.
Bottom line: When coaches or athletes fail to pay worshipful tribute to arrogant media types, the wounded egos use their ink and airwaves to abuse publicly, fairness be damned.
