The Carol Stream Park District is nearing completion of the first phase of construction of a 32-acre park on North Avenue near St. Charles Road.

The first phase of construction cost approximately $1 million. It included grading the site, adding storm sewers and detention, constructing some parking and four ball fields.

The second phase will include building a family fun area with a miniature golf course, picnic areas and parking. A recreation building may be built on 7 acres near North Avenue during the third phase, said Keith Gorczyca, director of parks and recreation.

The park is expected to open in spring 2002.
